True and the Rainbow Kingdom Birthday Party Ideas + Free Party Kit
“Welcome to the Rainbow”
Okay mama, let me spill the glitter. It all started when my daughter Abigail (a proud member of the “True & the Rainbow Kingdom” fan club) looked up from her morning cereal and said, “Can I have a True party for my birthday?” And just like that, my heart melted faster than ice cream at a July party. So there I was—coffee in one hand, Pinterest open in the other—ready to create something truly magical. But reality check: Party planners cost a lot, balloon arches cost even more, and don’t even get me started on custom invitation designs.

I wasn’t about to sell a kidney for a fifth birthday. What I could do? Roll up my sleeves and use what I do best: creativity, Canva, and a whole lot of love. That’s how the free True and the Rainbow Kingdom birthday party kit was born. I knew other moms were out there, just like me, looking for something special—but also sane. So I designed the cutest, editable templates you could imagine: invites, backdrops, welcome signs, thank-you cards, even coloring pages—all inspired by True’s whimsical world.
Dreamy and Budget-Friendly Rainbow Decor Ideas for the Win
Now let’s get into the sparkly sprinkles of it all—decor! Spoiler alert: you don’t need a party stylist or a $500 balloon wall to make your party Pinterest-worthy. What you do need? A clear theme, some dollar store finds, and a little creative flair. Start by picking your main color palette based on the show: royal blue (True’s hair), bubblegum pink, rainbow accents, and some cloud white.

Streamers, paper fans, tissue pompoms—you’ll find all of these for a few bucks, and they go a long way when grouped in clusters. One of my biggest hits was the Wish Tree corner. I took a $5 artificial tree and hung little paper stars with gold string. The kids wrote wishes on them—just like in the show. It was adorable, and shockingly meaningful. (Bonus: it doubled as a backdrop for photos!)

“Your Printable Lifesaver”
Let’s be honest, custom invitations are ridiculously overpriced. I once got quoted $85 for a digital file with my kid’s name on it. Um, hard pass. That’s why I poured my whole design-loving heart into this Free True and the Rainbow Kingdom Party Kit—because every mom deserves pro-level party materials without the pro-level price tag.
This kit includes:
- Editable Canva Invitation Templates (Like the one from Abigail’s invite in the image!)
- Backdrop Designs with floating characters, rainbow clouds, and bunting flags
- Welcome Sign Templates with room for your child’s name
- Thank You Cards with True and Bartleby waving goodbye
- Coloring Pages for your craft corner
- Party Tags and Labels for snacks, drinks, and goodie bags
All templates are designed with a mix of bubblegum fonts, True’s rainbow aesthetic, and high-quality character graphics that feel fun, not tacky. The invitation shown in the image, for example, features True front and center, surrounded by friends, party bunting, and floating cloud puffs—all set against a soft sky backdrop.
The text is bold, playful, and totally editable in free Canva—meaning you don’t need to install fancy software or know design lingo. I even included spacing guides so you don’t cut off Bartleby’s ears when printing. Yes, I thought of everything. Use them digitally (for texting and email invites) or print at home or your local print shop. Either way, you’ll look like a mom who has it all together—even if you were frantically editing the invite at midnight. Next up, let’s chat about how to get the most out of those templates without a Canva subscription…

Let Them Eat Rainbow Cake!
If there’s one thing that everyone remembers about a birthday party—especially little kids with sugar radars—it’s the cake. The squeal your child lets out when they first lay eyes on their birthday cake? That’s a moment worth every sprinkle. And with a True and the Rainbow Kingdom theme, your cake possibilities are as wide as the rainbow itself.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: “I’m not a baker.” Trust me, I’ve been there—one hand in the cake mix box, the other on a YouTube tutorial titled “Rainbow Layer Cake for Absolute Beginners.” You do not have to be a pro to create a magical dessert table. In fact, you don’t even need to bake. Whether you DIY or call your local bakery, the key is in the decoration. Let’s break it down into a few delicious, creative, and stress-free options…
Rainbow Crafts Corner for Quiet Fun and Big Smiles
Every party needs a quiet zone—especially for the more introverted kiddos, or the ones who’ve hit their sugar high and need to chill. The Craft & Coloring Corner is the answer! I set this up in a corner of the living room with a kid-sized table, a pile of markers, glue sticks, and all the printable coloring pages from our kit. True, Bartleby, Zee—you name it, I drew them (okay, I downloaded them, but still).

Kids LOVED it. Some even spent half the party there making their own “Wish Cards” with stars, glitter, and stickers. One child made a Bartleby puppet using a paper plate and two popsicle sticks. Iconic. This is where your DIY party earns bonus points. It’s affordable, easy to manage, and gives kids (and parents) a moment to recharge.
